I am one of the oldest players on the server. I've been playing since 2006, or about 1/3 of my lifetime. Along the years, I've tried several other servers. Privates and officials. None of them even came close to the AvRO experience. Above all, the speed of gameplay is beyond you'd ever expect of RO. It's a small, long lasting server. Heavily customized(not full of custom items) to provide the fastest possible PvP and MvP experience. New players usually stay for long years after joining.

The concept of the server is to join a faction and fight over MvP spawns. Harder and more disputed MvPs have better drops and higher drop rates. This naturally instigates guild vs guild competitiveness and keep people interested and logging in every day. The balance is better than you'll find anywhere else on a 255 server. Playing solo is not recommended but doable.
